As an R&D Engineer II in the Systems Clinical Engineering team, you will participate in the design and development of electrosurgical medical devices. Key responsibilities include writing testing protocols, test method development, conducting preclinical in vivo and ex vivo assessments of product performance, completing statistical analyses of performance data, and preparing reports in support of FDA submissions. You will also actively participate in Voice of the Customer (VOC) activities and help translate customer inputs into product design specifications.

You will:

• Designs, develops, analyzes, troubleshoots and provides technical skills during research and/or product development.
• Designs studies to investigate specific life science questions within field of expertise.
• May be involved in product research and development and/or clinical trials.
• Translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products.
• Tests and optimizes medical device designs by planning and conducting relevant experiments and evaluations.
• Participates in preclinical in vivo labs; observes cases in hospitals through customer interactions.
• Performs statistical analysis on experimental data.
• Documents experimental results in accordance with relevant internal SOPs and Design Control; writes protocols and reports and creates presentations.
• Assists in instituting design changes based on internal and external customer feedback; conducts testing to verify products meet customer requirements.

Must have:

• Bachelors Degree and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or
• Advanced degree with 0 years of experience.

Nice to have:

• Experience in Med Devices (Med Tech)

Technical Specialist Career Stream: An individual contributor with responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies from design to implementation - while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD): $83,200.00 - $124,800.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
