STATE PARK INTERPRETER II (PERMANENT INTERMITTENT) – INTERPRETATION AND EDUCATION DIVISION / WATERSHED PROGRAM / STATEWIDE
The reporting location will be the closest DPR remote office to the selected candidate’s residence: Sacramento County, San Diego County, and Monterey County. This position will work under the direction of State Park Interpreter III.
The State Park Interpreter II will research, design, and implement statewide interpretive programs and projects that broaden public understanding of California’s natural resources with an emphasis on topics related to sea level rise, wildfire, biodiversity, heat stress, and changing visitor dynamics associated with global climate change. They will work to foster internal and external partnerships, work with partners and contractors to develop and deliver system-wide training programs, implement multilingual interpretive and education programs and products, and provide professional support to district staff.
The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, administrative, digital media, and writing skills; ability to nurture dynamic partnerships with colleagues and community members; have education and experience in climate science and environmental education and be proficient in audience-centered interpretive methods.
Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license is required. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions on your application.
Travel may be required. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a state owned or leased vehicle.

This position may work up to 1500 hours in any calendar year.

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ)must be submitted by answering the questions below. Response must be submitted using a Microsoft Word document, no more than 2-pages, 12-point Arial font and double-spaced. Please number each answer for the associated question.
1. Please describe your breadth of experience in developing interpretive programs focused on climate change impacts on California’s natural and cultural resources.
2. Please describe your experience developing, facilitating, and evaluating interpretive training programs for adult learners.
3. Please describe your experience coordinating a complex interpretive project with an interdisciplinary team of staff, partners, outside agencies, contractors, and/or the general public.
