Position Description The Sport Scientist, YNT, supports the Youth National Teams and all sport science practices at U.S. Soccer. This role aligns with the High-Performance department’s mission to maximize performance across our development programs. Working with the team, the Sport Scientist will develop and deliver world-class sport science support to the Teams (NTs). Primary Responsibilities Provide performance support for YNT as directed by the Sports Science Senior Manager and/or Senior Sport Scientist, YNT Travel extensively with YNTs to training camps and games within the U.S. and internationally Collaborate with YNT coaches to design and implement training plans Monitor, test, and support strength, conditioning, and nutrition in line with U.S. Soccer standards Ensure accurate data collection and storage Build relationships with clubs and academic institutions for data exchange Work with Sports Medicine staff on injury prevention strategies Maintain inventory and evaluate new technology for athlete support Provide performance education to players Support the development of sport science practices across U.S. Soccer Additional Duties Educate players, coaches, and staff Support research and innovation initiatives Develop internal resources for the High-Performance Department Contribute to the development of sport science staff Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or equivalent At least 2 years of practical performance experience in a professional or youth academy setting Willingness to travel up to 50% of the year Ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends Physical ability to stand, squat, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds First Aid and CPR certification Ability to work in fast-paced environments Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Sport & Exercise Science or related field Certified Performance & Sport Scientist (CPSS) ISAK Level 1 anthropometrist certification Experience with pediatric exercise physiology and youth coaching Experience with GPS and monitoring devices Strong communication and organizational skills Bilingual in English and Spanish Knowledge of U.S. Soccer’s mission, policies, and procedures Previous club or team experience U.S. Soccer is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
