SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES (Evaluation criteria based on these responsibilities listed on review forms)
Family Ministries Department Leadership: ~40%
- Oversee the Kids and Student Ministries to implement our mission to REACH & EQUIP kids/students with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
- REACH kids and students through a fun, high energy, engaging environment for kids to learn about Jesus, families to be drawn into the ministry, parents and kids to feel safe, all the while creating motivation for kids and families to want to return the following week.
- Partner with parents to EQUIP families to train their own kids with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Directly oversee Elementary ministry for weekend services including volunteer scheduling, curriculum development and programing.
- Oversee Preschool ministry through the work of Preschool Associate.
- Oversee Student ministry through the work of JH and HS Pastors.
- Develop an annual calendar of events including VBS, Student Camps, and special events.
- Connect with dads of young families in both kids and student ministry in order to help families/parents attach to ministry and NPHX Church.
- Work with Connections Pastor in developing new guest/retention strategies for families who have recently attended or not attended at set frequencies in order to care and shepherd families to be more connected to ministry and NPHX Church.
- Ensure proper policies and procedures are in place and followed for a safe and secure ministry environment.
- Prepare an annual budget that reflects the goals, objectives and programs of the ministries.
- Set, attain, and report on growth and ministry goals.
- Collaborate with other ministry departments.
- Research current events, culture, and community issues that relate to and/or affect ministries under your supervision.
- Participate in general expectations of ministry staff such as staff meetings, team assignments, etc.
Volunteer development: ~10%
- Recruit new volunteers and leaders to meet the ministry resource needs of NPHX Church.
- Onboard new members consistent with vision, values, and character of NPHX Church.
- Train volunteers to accomplish ministry strategies effectively.
- Equip volunteers with needed information, tools, skills, and environments to effectively lead.
- Manage volunteer retention for consistency and longevity in ministry.
College / Young Adult: ~30%
- Oversee and support the College Ministry Team to REACH & EQUIP College Students.
- Architect and lead a Young Adult Program for young adults in their 20’s and 30’s.
Supervisory Duties: ~20%
- Coach and develop team members. This includes but is not limited to: mentoring employees, establishing goals, documenting employee performance, and providing performance feedback (written and verbal) to employees on a timely basis.
- Coordinate the efforts of each direct report to optimize efficiency of delivery of content.
- Train and supervise interns and residents as assigned.
Requirements:
GENERAL DESCRIPTION (PURPOSE) Lead the Next Generation Team Birth through Young Adults with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION (SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & EDUCATION)
- Demonstrated ability (minimum 2 years) leading a children’s/youth ministry program that effectively helps kids and students grow in their relationship with Jesus.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, cast, and implement a vision to Reach and Equip.
- Demonstrated ability to select, build, and lead successful, productive teams.
- Highly relational—ability to interact with a variety of people in a variety of circumstances.
- Knowledge of basic child development theory required.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and lead strategically is preferred.
- Bachelor Degree preferred.
- Desire to continue to grow spiritually and in work proficiency required.
- Self-motivation and commitment to excellence is required.
- Ability to effectively manage conflict or other tense/sensitive situations.
- Strong oral communication skills.
- A committed Christian living a life of obedience; beliefs consistent with NPHX Church statement of faith.
- Ability to appropriately handle confidential information.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
- Must be/become a member of NPHX Church.
