About Us
We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic culinary students to join our summer camp team! Camp Barney Medintz provides a fun and supportive environment for campers of all ages, and we're looking for culinary interns to help us deliver exceptional dining experiences.
Job Summary
As a member of our team, you will assist our experienced Chef’s in meal preparation and execution, kitchen operations, and food safety management. This position offers hands-on experience, skill development, and opportunities to learn from seasoned professionals in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
1. Assist in meal preparation, cooking, and presentation.
2. Maintain kitchen cleanliness, organization, and adherence to food safety protocols.
3. Support special dietary needs, including food allergies and dietary restrictions.
4. Adhere to Jewish Kosher cooking standards
5. Participate in food storage, inventory management, and supply ordering.
6. Engage with campers and staff, fostering a positive dining environment.
7. Participate in kitchen training sessions, including learning various cooking techniques, including grilling, roasting, and sautéing; as well as bulk equipment use (tilt skillet, stand steamer, etc.)
8. Implement and maintain food safety practices following HACCP guidelines, and monitor and control food temperatures during storage, preparation, and serving.
Requirements
Education and Experience
· Currently enrolled in a culinary arts program or related field.
· Basic cooking skills and knowledge of kitchen operations.
· Previous experience in food service or hospitality (desired).
Skills
· Strong communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
· Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand for long periods.
· Lift up to 50 pounds.
