Who We Are & What You'll Do DCC The mission of Denver County Court is to administer justice fairly, efficiently and effectively; provide excellent customer service, and foster a positive environment where employees enjoy their work.The City and County of Denver’s third branch of government is comprised of 19 judges, 4 full-time magistrates, and approximately 300 staff members. Case types include state, civil, small claims, traffic, criminal, and other cases within the City and County of Denver. The Division The Court Interpreter’s office utilizes both privately contracted interpreters and in-house court staff to deliver language access and promote access to justice to the public served by Denver County Court. What You'll Do The Denver County Court (DCC) is building a pool of qualified candidates to join the Court Interpreter’s Office, including the role of Staff Interpreter.As a Certified Staff Interpreter, you would play a key role in delivering language access to the Court and its participants. In this role you can expect to: Interpret fluently in court proceedings, trials, mediations, hearings, and any other proceedings before the court in Spanish language cases. Interpretation may vary between in person or virtually depending upon various circumstances; and may be provided to parties in a case, witnesses, or others as ordered by the Court Assist with scheduling, coordinating, and dispatching independent contract interpreter coverage Assist with the review and processing of invoices for payment of contract interpreter services Work with the team to ensure cross-training to provide coverage Act as liaison between judicial officers, State Court Administrator’s Office of Language Access (OLA), Denver County Court Administration, and the DCC Interpreter’s Office Maintain and report statistics Conduct bilingual assessments of DCC staff Understand and adhere to Chief Justice Directive 06-03 Language Interpreters and Access to the Courts by Persons with Limited English Proficiency, the Colorado Code Colorado Judicial Department Code of Professional Responsibilities for Court Interpreters, Chief Justice Directive (CJD) 05-05 Continuing Education and Professional Practice Requirements for Continued Certification and/or Active Roster Status of Court Interpreters, and various other regulating authorities What You'll' Bring The ideal candidate will have integrity and a strong commitment to public service. Required Minimum Qualifications We realize your time is valuable so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required minimum qualifications: Education: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate. Experience: Two (2) years of experience working in a professional capacity as an interpreter with Non-English speaking persons. Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements License and Certifications: Possession of a Colorado Certified Interpreter Credential or hold a Federal Interpreter Certification Credential or a credential that meets the established standards of the State of Colorado, at time of application.
