Assistant General Counsel - Contracts, Office of General Counsel

The Office of General Counsel (OGC) provides legal advice and assistance to the Department and liaises with litigation services from the NYC Law Department. OGC is divided into three units: Legal Affairs, Employment Law, and the Institutional Review Board.

Responsibilities

  • Review, negotiate, and draft contracts, ensuring compliance with all processes and approvals.
  • Collaborate with the ACCO's Office and DOHMH Procurement staff to ensure adherence to procurement policies and PASSPort procedures.
  • Resolve legal and business issues, providing recommendations based on analysis and creativity.
  • Assess, develop, and negotiate contract terms related to insurance, intellectual property, and privacy.
  • Ensure contract terms align with DOHMH policies and goals.
  • Review and negotiate contracts focusing on risk reduction and confidentiality.
  • Draft MOUs with federal, state, and municipal entities.

Preferred Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience drafting municipal contracts and with public procurement issues.
  • Legal negotiation expertise, research, analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in public health sector and project coordination.
  • Proficiency in Westlaw, Microsoft Office suite.

Qualifications

  • Admitted to the NY State Bar.
  • One year of legal experience post-admission or six months as an Agency Attorney Intern.

Residency in NYC is not required. The salary range is $80,387.00 – $92,446.00.
